Abstract
Improved Methods of Heavy Mineral Separation and Counting Suitable for Fine Grained Sandstones: NOTES
V. Ramesam
ABSTRACT
A centrifuge tube for separation of heavy minerals in fine grained sands is designed so that the light and heavy components, even in small quantity, come out in separate containers. The heavy liquid stays relatively clear and its wastage is practically nil.
Instead of the usual field method of counting grains, a `line method' of continuous traverse is used. This method is no less consistent in its variance than the field method, is more rapid, assures return to the same grain after rotation and covers the entire slide.
