Abstract
Non-calcareous Algae in Silurian Carbonate Mud Mound, Indiana
Cynthia R. Coron, Daniel A. Textoris
ABSTRACT
Recovery of non-calcareous algae belonging to the Cyanophycophyta, Chlorophycophyta, Xanthophycophyta, and Rhodophycophyta provides evidence for possible binding of carbonate mud by algal filaments to aid formation of carbonate mud mounds. Algal filaments may also have been responsible for mechanical bridge formation of stromatactis.
