Abstract
Glauconite Shrinkage and Limestone Cementation
Maurits Lindstrom
ABSTRACT
Grains of high-potassic (arithmetic mean: 8.2% K2O) glauconite, occurring in limestones at the base of the Ordovician in Sweden, have shrunk in a relatively rigid matrix and cement. The shrinkage was accompanied by the last phase of cementation. The preservation of pyrite speaks against shrinkage under weathering conditions. Submarine cementation is indicated.
