Abstract
Metal Deposits of Wyoming — A Review
Abstract
Significant resources of precious and base metal deposits in Wyoming are most often associated with either Precambrian or Tertiary host rocks. Paleozoic and Mesozoic rocks are generally poor hosts for metal deposits, although exceptions occur.
Precambrian rocks are noted for shear-zone gold, banded iron formation deposits, and massive sulfide mineralization. Tertiary igneous rocks are common hosts for epithermal gold and porphyry copper-silver deposits. Extensive Tertiary conglomerates in the State host giant, low-grade gold resources.
