Note that outer-estuarine sediment has a paucity of clay-size material (<0.5%). Illite, chlorite, and kaolinite are most abundant in mud flats and mixed flats; chlorite abundance is elevated in some tidal bar and dune samples (because of a presence of chlorite lithics; see Figures 6A, 12B).
